George Lawrence Larson, 89, of Hot Springs Village passed away January 18, 2015. He was born on December 29, 1925 to the late Lawrence and Hildur Larson, in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Larson was a math teacher for 30 years in the Chicago area in Illinois and had a Master Degree in Science and Mathematics. He was of the Lutheran faith. Mr. Larson served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corp. Mr. Larson had flown on the last bomber mission of World War II as a member of 315th Bomb Wing.
Mr. Larson was an outdoors person loving hiking, canoeing and bird watching. Local clubs which he participated in are playing the harmonica with his lifelong friend Merrill Clark, the Tennis Association, Audubon Club, Round Dance and Square Dance Groups and the Chat and Chew Group.
Survivors include: Nieces; Linda Cartwright of Nashville, TN, Laura San Nicolas of Frisco, TX, Valerie Larson of Brown Summit, N.C., Renee Hadala , Sandra Snyder, and Suzanne Goldthorp all of Tampa, FL., and Nancy Anderson. Nephews: David Johnson of Nashville, TN, Jimmy Larson of Tampa, FL., Jeff Barbee and Steve Barbee and many grand-nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law Alvin Johnson of Nashville, TN., Sisters-in- law: Dorothy Barbee of Hot Springs Village, AR. and Jackie Larson of Tampa, FL.
Mr. Larson was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Hildur Larson, wife Charlotte Larson, his sister Elsie Johnson, brother Henry Larson, brother-in-law Ken Barbee.
A memorial service has been scheduled for March 14, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Good Samaritan Chapel, with Pastor Jim Burns officiating. Interment with a military honor guard will be held at CedarVale Cemetery for the family.
Memorial’s can be made in honor of George to Good Samaritan in Hot Springs Village or to Arkansas Hospice.
